Composition Techniques   I'm excited to focus on mastering composition techniques and exposure control in this black-and-white photography project! I've created a series of images that beautifully showcase visual balance, proportion, and depth using manual settings and embracing concepts like the Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, and some fun, unusual angles. I chose to include both the not-so-great and the good photos I captured because they truly reflect my progress in technical accuracy and my creative journey.  My Desktop  First Trial Raw View of My Study Zone. It's slightly blurry but very real.  Second Trial In this exploration, I truly enjoyed testing exposure and focus to see how everyday setups can transform into captivating subjects. While the results were a bit blurry, it was a fantastic starting point for learning to compose with intention. The moment is balanced in light and shadow. Artist Statement “A pause, The Lake”     Over the spring break, I had the chance to explore Aberdeen and travel, which allowed me to see a variety of environments, from the fast-paced city of Atlanta to the peaceful, scenic space of Wylie Lake in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Although both Atlanta and Aberdeen offered beautiful views in their own ways, I particularly found a profound and calming presence while walking along Wylie Lake with my host mum. The images I captured showcase the park's quiet beauty and stillness, where the sunlight reflects off the water and nature softly frames the space.     Based on those images, I wanted to communicate a sense of connection that I developed with the lake. It was a place where time seemed to pause. I tried to capture various angles, light conditions, and compositions to best emphasize textures, mood, and the human relationship with the natural setting.
